Easy access to shop
A ton of random scrap metals
Much of it is quite cheap
Relatively friendly people (when you can find them)
|
Dislikes : |
Often terrible customer service, I've waited 30+ minutes looking for someone to help me
Had to wait for specific people to pay for the metal, sometimes for long periods of time
Very disorganized, hard to find things and often similar but different things mixed together
I'd buy one type of tubing one week and the next they either didn't have it or couldn't find it
Much of the metal I got was quite rusty and sometimes bent

Conclusion : |
Overall, I've had quite a few very negative experiences with City Wide and thus, can't recommend them. Also, much of the metal I bought I bought out of desperation. It wasn't really what I wanted, but I had enough and just took what I could get. However, I get the feeling that if you are looking to buy a lot of metal in bulk, they'd be more helpful and you'd get higher quality metal. Though, I don't necessarily consider that a good thing, especially for a person like me who is looking for just enough metal to cover the project I'm currently working on. I've included some photos of the kind of metal I got from time to time, some of it (like I said) in desperation. I want to make it clear that this is not typical of what I received, but the worst of what I received. Typically it wasn't quite this bad. As you can probably tell from the photos, it's more than surface rust that's easily wiped off (it takes quite a bit of grinding to remove it all). |
